exporting skinned animation

Hello Im making a test animation because I have yet to get one to work with the .x format using kw or panda so hopefully someone can help me.

I created a simple animation with 3 bones in a skin modifier on a cylinder object doing a simple bend animation. I export using kw. I checked the export skin/export animation/I made a animation 0 to 100 frames in the export window.

the dx viewer doesn't recongize it being an animated object and my friends program says the file contains no frames. How might I export skinned animation? I've only been able to export transform, scale, rotate animations.

The most common gotcha with

The most common gotcha with skinned animation is that you have to collapse the stack such that the bottom is an Edit Mesh (or poly/patch) object, and the only modifier on top of that is the Skin or Physique modifier. If you have more things than that on your stack, chances are that that's why it's coming out all wrong.

skinned anim

never did skinned animation so far ok, but it is the way that you loose somehow your animations frames in X and keys been set all on first frame (huh!), i don't know why. further i can't tell you if skinned animations work in X at all (i tried to, didn't works, i leave it) but maybe you find the answer in directx sdk, there are a lot of samples in it to explain the possibilties and limits of it.
