kW X-port version 1.4.3 released for 3ds Max 9, 2008, 2009 and 2010; introduces 64-bit!

Version 1.4.3 of kW X-port is done, and adds two important fixes:

  • 64-bit support for Max 2008, 2009 and 2010!
  • Fixes the "corrupt shader path" but in Max 2010.

You'll need to register and log in to download the installer! That way, I can send out updates if an important update is made to the installer or exporter.
kW X-port is written to support the needs of those developing 3D games using 3ds Max and the .X file format. The most common example of .X file format usage comes from the Microsoft XNA Game Studio tool set, although the Microsoft DirectX SDK also contains code to read and use .X mesh files. kW X-port supports almost every feature that is supported in general .X file importers, except for rarely used features such as progressive meshes.
kW X-port has been developed and tested to the point that it is now a very robust exporter for animated and static geometry, using Skin or Physique modifiers, Biped or Bones skeletons, or rigid (hierarchical) animated models. Where most other exporters will fall down in one way or another, especially when it comes to skinning, kW X-port generally will do the right thing.
Features of the exporter include:

  • The ability to copy textures into the output folder of the export.
  • Cutting the 3ds Max timeline into multiple separate animation clips.
  • Including or excluding specific geometry based on flags.
  • Exporting DirectX Shader Material parameters.
  • Multiple texture coordinate sets (up to 4) in a single .X file.
  • MaxScript support in the KWFunctions interface.
  • And a number of settings and options that can tune the export to suit almost any export scenario.
  • 32-bit and 64-bit host support.

Version 1.4.3, 2009-10-04

  • Support 64-bit versions of 3ds max.
  • Fix corrupt shader path when exporting from Max 2010.
  • Fix missing shortcut to separately installed plug-ins.

Version 1.4.2, 2009-10-03

  • Fix wrong tangent basis exported.
  • Fix installation on localized versions of 3ds Max.
  • Fix Windows Installer version problem.
  • Add option to install plug-ins only (does not require Max to be installed).

Remember: you want the latest version.

this installation package could not be opened. contact the application vendor to verify that this is valid windows installer package.

Seems like the download is

Seems like the installer was corrupted when you downloaded it. I just downloaded the latest versions (1.4.4) and they work fine. Click the "download" links at the top to go to the latest version.

Having the same problem here myself, the download never finishes properly. This is from my college campus where the internet is terribly slow.

I'm afraid that may have mostly to do with internet conditions, rather than the exporter itself.
If you're using a download accelerator, try downloading without it.
If you're not using a download accelerator, try downloading with one and see if it works any better.
I'm looking into ways to get downloads to work better without registration on the site, too. Perhaps for 1.4.4 (which should also fix the "Missing script interface" problem).

when file downloading size comes to 1.7 MB downloading stop and this file create on my hard disk
that it didn't work; i am trying a lot but no result.
I am using dialup 56k/s Internet connection.
