kW X-port 1.3.4 released!

Version 1.3.4 of kW X-port was released on 2008-09-20. You probably want to get a newer version from the download page.

This is not a "release candidate" or "beta." This is the real deal -- hopefully the last installment in the 1.3 series. Wh

en I move to 1.4, there are some advanced features I'd like to investigate, such as duplicating/sorting triangles for order-independent transparency sorting, and perhaps support for import as well. That is, however, a much different story, and will take a long time, if ever, to complete.

Fixes in 1.3.4 over the previouse 1.3.x releases include:

  • Improved installer. Now works great on all versions of Vista, and properly uninstalls older versions.
  • Proper export of bitangent data (previously, it was a copy of the tangent).
  • Work around degenerate triangles in UV space, if present.
  • Updates to the texture copy behavior.
  • Update to August 2008 version of the Direct3D runtime.

Thanks alot very good work

Thanks alot
very good work

Thanks!

Thanks for this application! Is it compatible with 3ds max 2010?

one thing or another thing

thank you, you are great!

Great exporter

Thank you for that great exporter! It's awesome!

Thanks

Thanks a lot, I was having trouble exporting my character for the game I'm making, and this works a treat!
Thanks!

Great work

Thanks a lot for the exporter!
I ma using it for my XNA projects very well.

I forgot to mention

Will you in the future make kW also import X files? Thanks again.

Many people (including me)

Many people (including me) want to be able to import .X files. However, that's a fairly large amount of work, and I don't have a particularly good use case to justify spending that time. The code is open, so if someone feels like implementing it sooner than that, I'd be happy to integrate it into a future release!

Problem

My .x file expoted , but I still have problems with light maps , unlike the pandasoft exporter , it exports the .x file together with all maps , so please I want you to guid mine to solve the prob

Unfortunately, your request

Unfortunately, your request doesn't contain enough information to even figure out what you're trying to do, much less what you think is going wrong with the process.

I suggest you re-post it in the forums (http://www.kwxport.org/forum), and include enough information that someone can actually figure out what it is you're trying to do, and what it is that's not working out for you, and how that may relate to the whole process from 3ds Max through export through import into whatever game or engine it is you're trying to use.

it fails to export

I cant export anything: result 1 code 0x00000000 wtf is that? I couldn't get anything to export before (older versions made my guns parts strewn everywhere, and now they don't even export and the export fails). omg wtf is wrong with it?
edit: ErrorCode = 10 ErrorText = Reference frame doesn't match Static frame
@24.026431: Saving node: character
@24.926390: kW X-port crashed; wrote a dump to c:\kwxport.dmp, result 1, error 0x00000000

it also created a dump file

I'm assuming you're using kW

I'm assuming you're using kW X-port 1.3.4? It seems like there must be a bug in the exporter that your scene tickles.
Could you make the .max file and the dump file available somewhere where I can download it and take a look at it?

Awesome

I was having problems with Max (had to uninstall everything). I reinstalled this version and it works flawless.

Doesn't work properly

This doesn't work any better than Panda exporter, still no modifier animations are exported, only position changes

The .X format does not

The .X format does not support general modifier animations. It supports basic meshes with a variety of geometry channels, skinned animations, and Effect files. If you want to export data in a format that is not supported by .X files, you'll have to export to some other format that does support the data you want, such as DAE (Collada).

Not working!

People use this plugin, I ask hoooow
Everything installes properly but no trace of actual files...

what's going on?

Not Installing

The installer goes through the motions but dosnt install the plugin.
Their is a folder created in 'All Users\Application Data' that has the version updates and a blank manual.
In the registry the "Install Location" field is blank.
Their is no change/addition within the Max8 folder.
Installing on Win XP Pro with Max 8.

Many questions about this in the forms, no replys.

The plug-in supports Max

The plug-in supports Max versions 9, 2008 and 2009.
Max 8 support was dropped a while back.

How can i use the exporter after it's installed??
I cant find it anywhere...

It is installed already!

When you double click that .msi, just restart 3ds max if it's running and it's already installed.

Great Tool

Thanks for doing such a great job, this tool has been used constantly by me for a few months now and it has saved me so much trouble!

Great Tool

Thanx a lot, we appreciate the time and effort you spend in making a free tool to support XNA community ;)

Poser Support

The two areas I see most useful are .max and Power support of animation/skin-bone support

Does this exist anywhere, or ar eyou adding it?

Thank you!

Just Perfect!

Wow, man! This Plug-in works perfectly!

I've tried Panda export, but I got so many errors. Sometimes the mesh was a mess or the animation too fast. Your plug-in just export exactly what I have in 3ds Max!

I just suggest you that you could develop this plug-in for Cinema 4D and Poser. X-port plugin for C4D is old and horrible, doesn't export animations and nobody can do a good X-port Plug-in.

And Poser doesn't have any X-Port. And would be great to have boned and animated character from Poser, as DirectX file, perfect to insert in Games Engines!

Keep doing! Great Job

64-bit version coming up?

First of all, thanks for your great exporter - I have been using it for months, it always worked nearly flawlessly.
However, the 32-bit version is totally incompatible with 64-bit 3ds max 2009 - is there a 64-bit version coming up? I would appreciate it.

Best regards
Dmitry

Thx!!

This is awesome. I don't know what I would've done if I hadn't found this!!!

Edit: This was supposed to be a new comment btw...
